As a small, British, family-run business, we are fortunate to be able to fully steer our own business values and strategies.
From the very start, we have made sure our product range and business activities focus on tackling climate change and global pollution, minimising environmental impact, maximising benefit to the health and wellbeing of our customers, and helping to combat period poverty at home and overseas.
That's why we try to give back where we can, and also help our customers to do the same.
GiFT a pad
For every pack of Floating Lotus Reusable Sanitary Pads we sell on our website, we will gift one reusable pad to a Period Poverty charity, helping someone unable to afford or access sanitary products.
Pads are gifted to charities we have chosen, working both in the UK and abroad. So far we have been able to help gift pads to projects in the UK, Africa and Asia.
The charities we have supported with our 'gift a pad' donations include ActionAid, The Trussell Trust, Maasai Molar, and Pippi House Foundation.
We continue to add charities to our list to ensure we can help as many people suffering period poverty as we can.
CARBON NEUTRAL BUSINESS
Looking after the planet and fighting climate change is important to us. We work hard to minimise our carbon footprint as a business. We also offset all of our emissions to ensure we are completely carbon neutral.
Our office only uses renewable sources of energy, we keep our packaging as recycled, natural and minimal as we can and we never fly our pads into the UK (plus lots of other things here and there).
We only slow-ship our pads from our factory by sea and we calculate our CO2 emissions for every single shipment (land and sea). Each year we carbon offset 100% of our shipping transport emissions through Climate Care.
plant a tree
Our customers can choose to 'plant a tree' with their order of our reusable sanitary pads on the website, supporting global reforestation and climate change.
We offer this through One Tree Planted, a non-profit charity focussed on planting trees across the world. For one US dollar (converted to our British pennies) they’ll plant one tree for you.
Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity.
Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.
DONATE a Pad
Here at Floating Lotus our hearts break to know there are so many people in the UK and around the world suffering the indignity of period poverty. Since we launched our business we have donated hundreds of pads each year to charities aiming to provide those in need with access to safe sanitary products.
By buying 'Donate A Pad', you will be supplying one reusable sanitary pad to someone in need, through one of the charities we support. Charities we have supported with pad donations include ActionAid, The Trussell Trust, Maasai Molar, and Pippi House Foundation. We aim to add more charities to our list.

DONATE A PACK
Just like our 'Donate A Pad' option, you could instead choose to 'Donate A Pack' of reusable sanitary pads to one of our selected period poverty charities.
This would mean a set of 5 x pads would be sent to help someone unable to afford or access safe sanitary products here in the UK or internationally. The pack will be sent to one of the charities to be distributed, ensuring someone in need has period protection for years to come.
'Donate a Pack' is also a lovely gift to buy for a friend or family member who have requested 'no presents' for their birthday or special occasion. We find quite a few of our customers have purchased this for someone else.
PERIOD POVERTY
Period poverty is a global issue affecting women, girls and those who have periods and who don't have access to safe, hygienic sanitary products, and/or who are unable to manage their periods with dignity, sometimes due to community stigma and sanction.
We give you the option to make a £1 donation to UK-registered charity Freedom4Girls, who work to support those who menstruate by challenging the stigmas, taboos and gender inequalities associated with menstruation. They provide education, provide period products, promote product choice and support environmentally and financially sustainable options. Their projects operate both in UK and East Africa.
